Overview

Ember is an emergency incident tracking app for Victoria, Australia. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your information. The short version: we don't collect, store, or share any of your personal data.

Data We Do Not Collect

Ember does not collect, transmit, or store:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)

  • Analytics or usage data

  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs

  • Crash reports or diagnostics

  • Location history

  • Any form of tracking data

We do not use any third-party analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools.

Location Services

Ember may request access to your device's location services to show your position on the map relative to emergency incidents. This functionality is entirely optional.

Important: Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server, including our own. We do not collect, store, or have access to your location information at any time. If you deny location access, the app will continue to function normally—you simply won't see your position on the map.

Data Sources

Ember displays emergency incident data provided by the State of Victoria, Australia. This data is publicly available and is used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia licence. The app fetches this data directly from Victorian government data feeds. We do not operate any intermediate servers or proxies that process this information.

Local Storage

Any settings or preferences you configure within the app (such as theme selection or map layout preferences) are stored locally on your device using standard system storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Third-Party Services

Ember does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data. The app uses Apple's MapKit framework for map display, which is subject to Apple's own privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
